Bubbling Easter Greetings

This card reminds me of a good movie trailer, when the movie is only as good as the trailer...you know what i mean?? So i like my title but not so wild about this card. (and it's not because of the sketch but because of how i constructed it)

This card looks so simple, yet it took me a bit to do. The circles in the background were all cut out w/the cricut/gypsy...my intention was to put the letters on the dots, but my vision didn't match up with reality. So plan B, no letters. So then the circles looked kind of plain and i was tired of putting a gem or pearl in the middle of my butterfly...so plan C...i found these iridescent bubbles i intended to use for a bubble bath card...but used it here instead...and that's why it's a "bubbling" Easter card. :P

Now remember if you don't have a cricut this original video is great to hand cut your own bouquet of flowers and to be honest, it still is the best instruction for assembling your bouquet.

Saturated in Oz or There's No Place like Home...

I am a push-over for theme related digis...and Wizard of Oz is one of them...i've done several Alice theme cards. This digi is adorable and is from Saturated Canary...all the details are delicious! I was so super excited to get my last card in the top three on the Saturated Canary..yippee!!

This week at the Saturated Canary...the challenge is to make anything but a square or rectangle card/project. ooooh, right up my alley...love these challenges!

So this is what i came up with:

Okay, so my thought process again...
TGF has a sketch on SplitCoast Stampers exclusively and weekly and Flutter by Wednesday has an inspiration photo of pink flowers. I've decided to combine the two challenges....and i wanted to use my new Memory Box die...which worked out perfectly because i have the floral challenge met by using the floral frame and paper. I added butterflies to the frame to meet the Flutter by Wednesday challenge requirements.

So this is what i made:

How i did it:
First, i made my card background following the sketch. Then i diecut the floral frame and lace.
I colored the flowers in the floral frame w/my copics.

Then i used a clear embossing pad and clear embossing powder and i embossed the frame and the lace.

I attached them to the card....and actually the card doesn't look too bad without an image. :)

Then i wanted a sitting TGF image and didn't see one like i wanted so i "mutated" two images. I used Cheeky Mate's body and Anya's head from the Sunshine kit.

Gray skies are gonna clear up...

Put on a Happy Face. :) I had wanted to use the sentiment, "You make me smile", but my husband thought the image was a bit sad...so i went with this sentiment instead.

Here is my thought process....the challenge at TGF Farm Fresh is to use Primary colors and Anyone for Anya had a sketch and i thought ah..ha...i will combine the two...and for some reason "clown" came to mind and that's probably because of the paper i had found to use for my card...looked like the awnings on circus tents....well in my imagination it did. :)

So then i had to find an image that i could make into a clown at TGF...I liked this little girls curly hair and the overall look, i thought it could work. Now, originally i was thinking pompom nose, but i didn't have one...so i punch a glitter circle and used a foam dot. I did use my multi-liner to extend the creases in the mouth. Otherwise, i colored it as is.
I must say that i used the Wavy Sentiment banner technique shown by Farmer Larissa on the TFG blog here.

You're A Hoot!!

Once again it is Friday Spyday at TGF Farm Fresh Challenge Blog. Every week we get a new card to "case"/copy.

This week's card to case/copy is below:

This is my take on the card:

This is what i did:
I followed the "sketch" card chosen. Then i decided to use my new Memory box flower wreath die. I cut it out twice...once out of craft paper and once out of yellow burlap patterned paper...well like all plans, my yellow paper moved and i got flowers that were not the same...and i thought no worries...it looks fine...and i actually like the brown underneath showing. Next, i ran my flowers through my Xyron and attached them to the wreath...(i did that for a reason i didn't want any embossing powder to get caught under the flower). The next thing i did was to emboss the whole wreath with clear embossing powder...i really like this because now it looks "wet" and glossy. I did the same thing to the mat of the sentiment. The owl is from TGF Forrest friends stamp set. I added glossy accents to the owl's eyes and Extreme glitter paint to the eyelids.

I call this my "Sugar-y" Vintage style card.

When i was younger, i can remember getting these beautiful cards w/glitter...probably in the 60's. There is an updated version now...and you use double sided sheets and this very fine glitter, just like sugar and maybe a bit finer than sugar. I also used the masking technique on this card as well.

My good friend, Aga, taught me how to make this "sugar-y" card. As you can see i also used some of my dies for the masking...it's a fun card to make. I also used the doily frame as well.

Again, my thought process...i knew i wanted to do Mo's Challenge this week and The Sweet Stop's sketch. So the challenge at Mo's was to use a sentiment and a Mo's image and the Sweet Stop challenge is to use their sketch and a die cut. I had no idea what i wanted to make...and then "ta da" i saw the new 6 x 6" paper pad i just bought and thought...ah ha...moustache! Now to find an image...

Just Married card

Over at the Card Crafter's Circle Challenge Blog we are having a "To Die For" theme...all you have to do is use a diecut whether it be from a die or hand cut.

Here is the card i created using one of the images from Limited Runs.

What i did was color and cut out the car image. I added Glossy Accents to the window. I also used Extreme Glitter Paint on the body of the car. I used some large yellow gems for tail lights. Then i punched holes for the string on the bumper and attached the letters to the string. The die in the background is from Love Struck 2010 cartridge.

I had made a card for my husband for Valentine's Day without telling him and i showed him the card (because i make a fair amount, he wouldn't know it was intended for him) and i said what do you think of this card, and he wasn't as excited about the card i made (so i didn't give it to him)...and so when I noticed the new challenge at TGF Farm Fresh Challenge Blog was a "Valentine's Day/Love" card using Pink and Red, i thought...hmmm, Valentine's day was yesterday, and i don't really need another Valentine's Card...so, i thought, i'll go with a general..Love card...that i can use any day....and maybe i might give it to my husband...another day, maybe....:)

What i did:
I used the new Simply Anya image. I cut her arms so she could hold a heart. I also used a Memory Box heart border and there was hearts that popped out from the border and i used those as well on the stamp squares and in Anya's hair.

Okay, i have 3 different challenges i want to combine as one...this IS a challenge...it's kind of a puzzle that you have to put together. Okay so here are the three challenges...What would you do???

First Flutter By Wednesday wants you to use this recipe AND to make sure you have a butterfly/fairy or angel on your project:

L= 2 or more Layers

O= have an Odd number of embellishments

V=have the color Violet on your creation

E= you can use any color Except red

Second Anyone for Anya Challenge blog wants you to use this photo as inspiration:

And this is what i came up with: (she does have a bit of violet in dress "shading", 5 pearls on her crown, and 3 pearls on the large butterfly)

How i made this TGF image:

First i flipped the image so i could get a reverse side of the skirt...then i cropped the skirt layer that would go on the left side...and copy/pasted it several times...i did the same to the right side of the skirt.

Then i cut out the top part of the image and the left side of the skirt and the legs. I then dry embossed the skirt pieces and cut them all out. Then i adhered the top part of the image onto the gray paper using foam dots so i could tuck the skirt under as i went. Then i added the legs. Kind of cool, i have a whole new image and one that looks like the dress from the challenge...i hope.

I guess all of this would make more sense if you could see the original stamp. Her name is Cheeky Beauty and found here.

I thought she'd be cute for confirmation too.

This is a brand new digi i am using...she is just darling and is a Saturated Canary Stamp. The challenge theme at Saturated Canary is to use Pink, Red and White. So i thought i'd use my neglected scraps of white paper...that file of scraps is bulging!

April Showers bring May Flowers

Can you tell i am already thinking about spring...and we've not had a too much of a winter yet..and i am fine with that! I love these cute little bunnies from TGF ..this is the 3rd one i've used on a card...lot's of versatility.

For this challenge at TGF Farm Fresh Challenge Blog, we are to "case/copy" this card...IT IS NOT MY CARD (i say that because i've had people think whenever i share a cased card that it is my work and i don't want to take credit for what is not mine) I just want you to see how i did casing the card by comparing it. :)

And now this IS my card. :)

I used a spellbinders die to mat the inside square and EK success punch for the white trim. I used a cute font called Oedipa Plain. Again i used the Liquid applique on the bunny to make him look fluffy.

Don't ask me why, but i used this image..i have been wanting to use it since i purchased it...and i guess this week i've been spending a lot of time w/my granddaughter, Sadie in the bathroom (maybe that's why i chose this image)...

I am just trying to catch her one time going on the potty instead of her diaper or pull-up. Usually, you have those signals...you know a dry diaper for a length of time and you know they are ready, well that opportunity was lost and now we are trying with a more determined plan at Grandma's...We've come a long way, usually it was "NO" and she wouldn't go and you surely can't make them go...so we've passed that hurdle and she likes to sit, just nothing happens...even with incentives.

So Friday when she arrived, i thought let's give it try...and her diaper was dry...and after about 20 minutes we had something, but i don't know when it happened because breakfast time is a bit hectic...but we all got excited and she got some jelly beans...yay! However, the rest of the day nothing happened...and as usual we have to start all over again on Monday....So i guess that's why i used this image..LOL My granddaughter's favorite colors are Purple and Pink and i colored this little girl's hair the same color as my granddaughter's hair.

This week at Mo's Challenge blog we are playing Bingo...3 in a row...i've actually made 2 Bingos.

Baby Party LO

Once i finished coloring it, I KNEW it would be for my daughter that loves receiving cards in the mail...she is a Paperchase fan...so she would like this type of card. Look who is turning 3 LO

Ah, so i am trying to combine 3 different challenges into one..hope that's okay....it works great for me because i LOVE this LO.

What i do each year for the grandkids birthday is make an autograph scrapbook LO. I bring the LO to their birthday "party" and have the family sign the page. This is the first time i don't have more than half of the page to write on...hope we can all fit on with the space that's left. :)

So to meet the TGF Farm Fresh -Monday/Funday challenge of "stitching" i stitched the twine all the way around the LO...and used a TFG image...BTW the large cupcake is a TGF image, it is the cupcake from Anya holding a cupcake...i just enlarged it so the image could sit on it.

To meet the challenge at "Anyone for Anya", which is a photo inspiration of cupcakes/theme "Sweet Treats"...i used the enlarged TGF cupcake image and the image sitting holding a lollipop.

And, yet another challenge is from "Bird is the Word", a sketch and a word.."Journey". I wrote on the LO using the word "Journey"

Lunch Date w/Sadie

Seeing as Sadie is almost 3 and not in preschool yet, we need to get out every so often. I watch Sadie and her siblings daily.

One of the things i like to do is shop and Sadie likes to eat. So we combine the two and have a great time. Sadie's favorite thing is pizza....she loves pepperoni...she would eat that cold on a sandwich at Subway anytime.

Last Friday her dad took her 5yr old brother to the Superbowl Village (we live in Indy) and i thought it was perfect for her to go on a date with me.

This is such a fancy sketch from Sketchabilities...it was fun!
Here is my take on the sketch:

What i did to make the doily is i used Holiday Cake cartridge and hid the inside circle and then i added another doily inside of the large one by reducing the size. The mats are from Gypsy Wanderings tags. The tiny doily is from Elegant edges. The background flowers that are holding up the banner are from another cartridge, but i deleted them from my gypsy, so i don't remember..the rest of the flowers are punches. The title is from the Nursery Rhymes cartridge. The banner is a punch.

Ayden's ER visits LO

Thought this might be a good way to record Ayden's visits to the ER...it would be nice if he didn't go at all but because he has gone several times before the age of 5 i thought it might be good to remember.

Ayden is my grandson, so my daughter will have to do the journaling in the spots. What i've done is numbered the pictures w/the journaling spots. I've also made a 2 page LO to accommodate the visits he's made...i think we are missing 2 visit/pictures, so they will just have to be written in on the pages.

I thought i'd continue to share my thought process as to how i come up with these cards. Again, it's a challenge theme that sparks my imagination and again this challenge is from TGF Farm Fresh Challenge blog, this was a month long challenge and the them was "Retro -fresh, Lucky in Love".

So what did i think of next, my old scrapbook full of my "retro" valentine cards i got when i was in elementary school...those valentines were so cool and not really cheap, you know what i mean? The ones made now are really, really cheap...not the ones you'd really want to save in a scrap book, but that will be my grandkids memories...i will have to show my grandson the ones they used to make. :)

The bubbles at the top were found in the button section...but they aren't buttons. I used the mermaid from TGF and the scalloped heart punch is a MS large doily heart punch. Viva pearls in her hair and Extreme glitter paint on her fishy part. :)

Well, this is one of those concepts, where you think it is a great idea...and maybe it isn't executed so well? The "Love You" is hand drawn with a ink pad which is what i wanted, but i wanted it to look like the little girl did it and because she has a black outline i am not sure the "Love You" works this way? Maybe someone else will see this and be able to execute it better...that's what i am thinking.

Beauty Lies with in card

Another day in the creative process...first thing was the challenge and the challenge is to "case/re-make/copy" this card...it's not my card but one to look at for inspiration... and it is found at TFG Farm Fresh Challenge blog.

First thing i did was grab an image i had stamped off (Miss Anya Garland w/hearts), then i chose my background paper and really liked the flower in the center (which you can no longer see on my card) and colored the dress based on that flower, you've really got to look at the center of the white flower...i used the yellow/gray and the pink for the dress. Then i and colored her hair based on the bbrwn flower in the paper as well...i guess i should include a picture of the whole paper at this rate. LOL..so you can see what i mean. An antique key and a story from the heart.

Just thought i'd walk you through my process of creating..

I am always inspired by a challenge...and then add a bit of a theme...and my mind goes wild with ideas. Then i start visualizing what i want to make and seems like 9 times out of 10 it changes as i work with the project...sometimes i am happy and other times not so much.

So TGF Farm Fresh challenge is... "Key to My Heart"...instantly i thought of some paper i had w/keys on it but as i looked at it i thought it was too large for the size and happened upon this pink 12 x 12 paper that had keys in the upper right hand corner dangling...and i thought perfect.

As i was on Pinterest, i saw this 3-d heart diecut in a box and again i thought...lets combine the two elements in a box and i always think of Alice when i think of keys...don't know why but i do. Now i got all of my basic elements...let's put it together....oh yeah, i need an Alice book to cut up...it's in my stash....$.69 from Goodwill...kid's "reduced" version...so not so great to read...but great to cut up because of the size of the font.

So, i got to the part of adding the images and heart and thought it needed something more...so i went to my jewelry stash and pulled out an antique key...added some more of the pages around the edge of the box and put some glossy accents on top of that too. The heart die i used is from Cheery Lynne Designs. The bottom of the box looked a bit bare and my daughter said, how about some grass..well, i took that literally and went to Lowes in search of some "fake" grass...who knew they had free cut samples??? Awesome. Once the grass was down...Alice looked one dimensional so i made a pop out sort of box to make her stand out more. Heart charm is from Michaels...bulk pack and the crown is from Tim Holtz's charm pack.
So all in all a pretty good day, other than i couldn't get a good shot of my project without shadows.

Vintage Hankie Style Card

This week at Card Crafter's Circle our challenge is to make a "White on White" card. What isreally cool are the images we got to use. Sweet, sweet images. This little girl is the one i chose to use and instantly i thought of vintage and hankie. I hope you like this creation. :)

I used my embossing folder for the first layer and the floral embossing folder was from Craft Concepts. Next i used MS Elegant Cake Cartridge for the doily, eyelet trims, butterflies and the flourish w/a flower. The large paper flower is from Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge. The heart charm is in the jewelry dept at one of the craft stores i visit (not sure if it is Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joanns). I also used the Viva liquid pearls.

TGF Lucky Bunnies, handbags and backpack, oh my!

As soon as i spied the TGF "Lucky Bunnies" clear stamp set, I KNEW what i wanted to do with them...the only question was, do i applique them on a handbag/backpack or make stuffed animals and pin them on a line with a clothes pin...hmmm. I think both would be cute, but i went for the handbags and backpack. I like to Alter items so all of the items used to put my appliques on are from a charity shop...a great way to upcycle your current items or to just make other items special.

This is how i did it:
First i stamped, scanned and enlarged the images to 8". Then i brought them to my lightbox (or any light source...like a window/sliding glass door) and traced the images on muslin using black fabric paint and a paint brush.

Once i did that i needed the printed applique pieces. First, thing is to iron some fusible web/heat n bond to the back side of the fabric i wanted to use...only enough for the appliqued pieces. I brought the heat n bond fabric pieces to my light box to trace the sections i wanted.

****Remember because you are tracing on the heat n bond side to get your applique pieces, that you need to turn your scanned image over on your light source to get the reversed/mirror image...or your applique pieces will be drawn and then cut out wrong. * Note how the below bunny's present is on the left side instead of the right side.

Now that you have your pieces drawn and cut out all you have to do is iron them on your muslin painted image. Next i put heat n bond on the backside of my painted image, before i iron the applique onto my bag i button-hole stitch around the printed appliqued pieces to make them secure. After you finish doing that i cut around the outside edge of my painted muslin image leaving about 1/4". Now i iron the applique to my handbag/backpack and button-hold stitch around the whole image.

You can embellish your handbag/purse whatever way you want, i added some organza flowers , felt handmade flowers or buttons and embroidery stitching..

Miss Anya Garland in style!

One of my favorite things to do is to Alter things...i've been known to do that and get some things published in my favorite magazine called, "The Altered Couture". So when i was asked by Jessica and Marie from TGF, if i'd be interested in creating a 3-D something for them for the CHA, i thought it would be fitting to use my ideas for them using the January releases. I chose to use Miss Anya Garland and make a special "Fashion scarf" just for Jessica to wear at the CHA.

What i am going to "teach" you to make:

Jessica colored this image and allowed me to use her image for this project. It is a really fun thing to do with your images after you've colored them. Just scan them and reduce them to the size needed....so much easier than coloring an image that is less than an 1" high. (That's what did when i first started coloring the images for jewelry lol)

Supplies needed:
MS Yarn (I purchased mine at Michaels)
Epiphany Crafts Oval punch
Epiphany Crafts Oval clear disk
TGF image
Jewelry pieces and pinback

Okay let's get started.
First you need to reduce your image to fit into the oval punch. You can hold the oval disk over the image to gauge the size, but do not remove the oval disk until we need to use it.

Now you need to put your image into the Epiphany punch and center it in the hole. Once you do that you can place the oval disk on top of the image in the punch. ***VERY IMPORTANT do not touch the sticky part of the disk, your fingerprints will show, hold the disk on the outside edges.

Place the insert that came with the punch on top of the clear oval disk, and close the lid and push down, just like a normal punch. (see instructions included w/the punch) Now you will have your own cute paper backed charm...to use on a card, on jewelry, whatever..so much fun!! You can take your images to another level...and so personal.

So what i did next was use 6000E glue (or your choice of permanent glue) to attach my charm to a piece of jewelry and then added a pin back to the piece i created.

You can wear the pin as is or add it to the yarn scarf. The yarn scarf is easy to make and i didn't follow MS instructions.

All i did was take an entire skein, take one loose end and find how long i want it to be around my neck, making sure i can pull it over my head. Once i determine the length, i keep wrapping it around until i get to the other loose end. I stitch the two loose ends together and then i stitch through all the other layers i wrapped so they won't come unwrapped again. I took the pin i made and pinned it through some of the layers. What do you think? Fun, huh?

Loving, Loving the Miss Anya Garland stamps...this one is the one w/the flower garland...so for some reason i wanted to go rainbow themed...i just love rainbows...they are so pretty.

I was so awestruck when i lived in Wales for 3yrs and on my drive home one day..i truly saw the end of the rainbow...i've never seen one before and almost stopped the car and cried it was so awesome!

My nephew and his wife are expecting and i asked if they knew the gender yet. She let me know that they've decided to wait until the baby is born, they want a "surprise". So i know there aren't many cards out there anymore that aren't gender specific. So i thought using the color challenge at Tiddly Inks for this card was a good one. :)

I love these new images by The Greeting Farm called Miss Anya Garland...there are a set of three...i chose to use the "LOVE" garland. The challenge at TGF Farm Fresh Monday/Funday is to use doilies/lace. I've combined this challenge w/a sketch from Sketches by Carly and a "Love" theme at Sweet Stamps blog.

I used the Elegant Edges cartridge for the background doily, Sweethearts for the red doily, MS punch for the white doily. I added some "Extreme" glitter paint to the white socks, eyelet dress edges. I also added the Gloss accents to the "Love" banner.

Here is what i created using Digi My World "Mad Hatter's" stamp from the Alice in Wonderland set found here. I also used my cricut to cut out the cup and the "Happy Birthday" sentiment. I used a real tea bag and emptied the tea out to the bottom and cut off the paper tab and replaced it with a heart punch and sentiment.

I just made my granddaughter's birthday card. She will be 3 on March 5th. Even though her mom had hoped to not do pink or purple, it has become some of Sadie's favorite colors...and she doesn't really play with Barbies to even get that idea. She also loves sparkly things..so i colored this image's hair and clothes and used pink on the card just for my Little Miss Sadie!

Ah, you guessed it i used a doggie for my next Valentine's card. Not just any doggie, one that looks just like my son's and his wife's dog, named Daisy..this doggie has a name on his collar...he is actually called "Spike". :)

I've made this Valentine in honor of my friend, Aga. She is currently pregnant and was talking about eating and being pregnant and said this quote in connection with that.

I thought it was so cute that instantly the image at Saturated Canary came to mind. For their challenge i need to add die cuts/punches. The two gray borders are from the cartridge Elegant Edges. The heart is a punch and the heart doily is a MS punch.

I wasn't really sure about the Valentine sentiment but wanted to meet the "non-traditional Valentine" challenge at "The Sweet Stop". Then i thought about it and thought, that if someone bought a box of candy and this card it would be perfect. :)

Ok, so the hardest challenge is always the simplest challenge. :) Mo's challenge this week is to make a "Clean and Simple" card/project...oh this is so hard...i keep thinking is this "Clean and Simple" or "Absolutely Boring", don't know. One thing i do know is i like this image, i think this is the second time i've used her...so squeezable, i think!

Let it Snow! (not really)

I grew up in MI and i am not a snow fan..love the snowmen and the pretty snow, but do not like the cold or the ice...not even when i was a kid..nope don't miss it...but being in Indianapolis, i still get to experience the snow and probably more ice than when i grew up in MI.

Of course i had to walk about 3/4 of a miles to school...no matter what pretty much...we lived in MI..we had recess in the snow...still can't believe it, because half of the day seemed to be dressing up to go out and then taking all the snow stuff back off to do class. I also remember being in 7th grade and wanting to be like all the other girls and wear nylons...i think i had permanent goose bumps on my legs by the time i walked to Jr. High...it was over 1 mile to school. I wore snowpants in elementary school...not snowmobile, because they didn't have those at that time...couldn't do that in Jr. High...with nylons...so uncool. :)

I do remember one time in the mid 60's where i could skate with my ice skates (actually they were girl hockey skates because they were cheaper) on top of the snow in our backyard...it was awesome! It had iced overnight and stayed cold, it was the only time i enjoyed being outside in the snow. The only sad thing i realize now, is that my dad had to go to work in that weather and he did.

What i did:
I cut out a heart using my Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, and then i cut out a stamp frame from Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I used my new Memory Box Cherish border, but i had to majorly cut it up and piece it to go around the heart....kind of like a hair cut and then pasting it back on...lol. The little heart is from the inside of the Cherish/heart border...i save too many scraps!!

How to simply paper piece and add "frosting" to a cupcake card

It's always fun to learn something new and practice getting better at something old. Right? I really like to paper piece..it gives my images some great dimension. Also this new "frosting/snow" technique is super fun..see below...

*My info about scissors for paper piecing:
What i have learned is that the right scissors makes all the difference. I have found the the scissors i use for making teddy bears have also worked wonderfully for cutting paper...but i wouldn't use the same scissors for both because paper dulls scissors. So my recommendation for a pair of scissors to paper piece with would be to look at the blade width...not the length, but the width...the thinner the blade the skinnier the cut. Then i look at the length...pretty much any scissors with a thin blade is pointy and sharp...which you need. My scissor blade is about 1.5". Another thing i've learned is to move the paper not the scissors so much. Okay..so let's get started.

First you will need to print your image out, so you will know how big of piece of "pattern" paper you will need to paper piece with.
Then what i do is use piece of computer paper and hold it over the one i just printed, because then i will know where to place the paper i want to print on for my paper piecing. I lightly tape the paper in the right position on the computer paper and print the image one more time. (If you want more then one color to paper piece with you will print your image that many times)

I have already colored in my image, knowing that i will paper piece the cupcake wrapper and stars. Next thing to do is cut out what you want from the pattern paper. In this case *I cut out my paper piecing images on the outside line and not inside of the line..and not on the line...that way i know i am covering the image. If i were going to "but up" two pattern paper pieces together, then i would cut on the line.

And this is what it looks like once you've glued your pieces on your "base".

Now for some fun. I just learned this technique from another blogger. (Thanks Lisa) All you need is Marvy's Liquid Embroidery pen...it is heat activated. At first i followed the directions and waited over night for it to dry..but I found out that once it's dry to the touch you can use your heat gun to "puff up" the paint..and not wait overnight.

Homemade Noodles recipe card - Mo's style

I am participating in a Recipe exchange with a few friends. I have created this 6 x 6 card to exchange with my friends. The recipe is a modified version from Betty Crocker's cookbook. This version has been passed down from my mom.

What i did:
I absolutely love the original image called "What's Cookin' ", but i don't have pigtails so, i went searching for another image that Mo created and swapped hairdos...as a little girl i had Shirley Temple curls, but this is more of my hairstyle now(minus the bows w/pigtails). The image i used for the hair swap was, "Mariko is mad". All of the diecuts are from cricut cartridges.

One of the fun things i did with this card (which it is hard to photograph) is to put a clear glossy coat over Ian's head, so it looks like "glass". I used Glossy Accents to do this. One of my new items to use this year is the Valentine pattern paper.

Winter Warmth with a cup of Cocoa

I remade a project i made in December. Took it apart and started over and i think i like it better. The theme for this challenge is "Winter" and i think it works great with hot cocoa and the snowman...it's cold and a bit snowy here and some hot chocolate sounds good.

For this image i combined two different images to give the "hot cocoa" image some legs. I love these stamps from Saturated Canary. I also diecut two ovals and hand punched the borders.

Book Name Plate- Digi My World style

This is challenge #10 at Digi My World blog. You Light up my life...something you can't live without...i thought about my grandkids and also the children's books i want to read to them. I chose to make a Book Plate using two different images from Digi My World shop here and here. You could just purchase the one set and change out the boy behind the bookcase...the boy i used was from the alphabet set and was free for a week. :)

Blonde hair version:

What i did:
For this challenge, i chose two really cute images and layered them using the PNG format. I also had to "cut out" the letter B from the boy reading the book image. Once i had them layered i added the "This book belongs to" underneath to get the right size. I tend to cut out my images, but if you are much better at staying in the lines then i am you could use this as is.

I matted the image and the "belongs to". Then i used my cricut cartridge Elegant edges and changed the proportions by unlinking the chain under the size and made the size to fit my matted image.
My intention is to scan this and reduce the size to have several fit on a 8.5 x 11 paper. I also have a grandson with light brown hair and will change out the color for his books.

TGF Farm Fresh challenge for Monday/Funday challenge is to..

"sing a song...create a project based on a favorite genre, song, or lyric"

So i looked through my stash of TGF Stamps and came up with this cutie! She is perfect as the blue "fairy" (no wings though) from Pinocchio, don't you think? I love this song, beautiful music, but it's not what i believe spiritually.

I chose to use the sketch from "Sunday Sketch & Stamp blog" below:

What i did:
I copy/pasted the lyrics and changed the font out to "Walt" font. I used my "go to" Gelly roll pen- Clear Star. I printed the lyrics off on vellum and used the "snow" paper for the background and punched out some stars from Coredinations glitter paper.

TGF Farm Fresh Challenge for Friday/Spyday is to case this card...Now let me tell you this was some card to case..there are a lot more details to this card then meets the eye...it's a beautiful card to case!

This is the card i made looking at the card above...

What i did:
I finally was able to play with my MFT flower diecut. I used some felt and ran it through my xyron to hold the petals together...and then used some glue dots to adhere it to the card. I used Spellbinders heart frame, some flourishes and scalloped square from my cricut. And of course the TFG image...i did cut off the daisy/sunflower and replace it with the felt flower. I asked my husband what sentiment i should put on the card if it was for me, and he said, "You're Sweet". :)

Close-up of the new technique i learned from TGF DT Lisa. Thanks so much Lisa for telling me about this technique it was super fun!
What i did was use a Liquid embroidery pen made by Marvy. I painted on the paint, let it dry overnight, and heated it with my heat gun. Cool, huh? The pen comes in different colors...oh am i going to have some fun!

Ringing in the New Year with an awesome image

Annie at Digi My World is an awesome digital artist...she draws the cutest images. This set of Christmas Kawaii Images are to die for. When i saw this bell i thought, perfect for this challenge called, "Bright New Year".
Here is my card...it is shiny and that's not always the easiest for me to take a picture of...so i am posting two images. :)

What i did:
I enlarged the image and hand cut it out. Then i printed the image again on gold metallic paper, silver metallic paper and shiny pink metallic paper. Paper pieced those sections and colored in the eyes, inside the bell and the "ringer". I tied some iridescence thread at the top to add to the festive-nest.

I've chosen Holiday, and my creation is called an "Interactive Santa & Sleigh" card and is below:

What i did:

1. used my Scal2 program to cut out the card base by bringing it into the program and selecting "outline" and welding a left side to a right side.

2. stamped, enlarged the sleigh from the "Clear Christmas Stamp Set" to fit the card base and flipped it in PhotoShop so the card would open right to left .

3. also stamped the Santa from Christmas Sweeties. Colored both images in and used some sparkle pens to high light areas.

4. Cut out both stamped/printed images. I allowed a white space around the sleigh because of the details and cut right on the line for Santa.

5. Cut a piece of Baker's twine and attach it in between the sleigh and the front of the card.

6. Sew down the sleigh to make a pocket for Santa to sit in by stitching just inside the sleigh on the presents, make sure you have stitched the baker's twine into the seam.

7. Attach the other end of the Baker's Twine to the back of Santa's hat and attach the Santa to a piece of black paper and cut a shadow around him.

8. Ta DA..you have an interactive Santa that sits in his Sleigh that anyone would love...especially the kids! (You could also tuck in a gift card or cash behind Santa.)

"Holly"day Kisses Card

I could kick myself, i colored this image last week with the intention of it going into the Tiddly Inks' "Ooh La La theme" Challenge, only to find out that when i finished coloring it, i missed the deadline. arghhh!

I always set up my schedule to be a day early so i don't miss....but what was i thinking waiting the extra day. So i am back on my schedule and thought i'd use the image this week.

To be honest with you, I like it better for this Tiddly Inks' "White Christmas" challenge anyway....LOL.

I also used one of my favorite blog's called "The Sweet Stop" sketch for this week, (i flipped the sketch on it's side) which is shown below:

What i did:
I used the image Halloween "Sugar Angel" found here. I turned the bat wings into "holly leaves". I like lots of texture, so i used a pattern paper and dry embossed some paper. I added the heart gems to the "holly-leaf" kisses. My other great find this week was my border punch that punches out tiny snowflakes...and to think i was looking for a small snowflake punch! I "sprinkled" some snowflakes throughout my card as well by using those small snowflakes....i had fun with those snowflakes and you will see them on other cards this week. :)

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas Day 5- Mo's digital pencil style

Well, i am working my way through making these tags...and i am not doing them daily like Tim shared in his blog...and the fans that got them done within hours...WOW. 8 days later i've finished day 5. I added one of my favorite digital images to my tag. You can find this image here, it is from Mo's Digital Pencil.

What i did:
I tried to use Tim's technique, but it bombed. So i made it a different way. What i did do was cut out an acrylic tag and a white background tag. I did use liquid ink dye to color my acrylic tag. What didn't work was i then was suppose to stamp the tag after it dried...and then rub off the black ink. Well, it rubbed off but i couldn't really see the white lettering. The ink was suppose to rub away and leave the image of the stamp (clear)...it was so faint. So i just stamped the white background tag and it shows through the acrylic tag. I used my Sweethearts cartridge to get the wreath similar to Tim's diecut. I used liquid pearls on the wreath and a bow. I adhered the acrylic tag to the white tag with Glossy Accents, but it didn't work, so i used double sided tape on the bottom with the tulle at the top. I colored and cut out the image and attached it with foam dots.

This tag took a lot more thought to making, seeing as i didn't have the stamp to make this tag...and again i am just using my cricut. I used 5 different fonts and glued the letters onto the tag. I've made a Youtube video showing how i made this tag and which fonts i used and the measurements. (Youtube video should be up on 12/14/11)
I used the new Anya Holiday stamp for the tag, but i wadded her up to make her look distressed to go w/the tag.

I saw this template some time ago and so wanted to make it, however, i wanted to make it using my cricut/gypsy, sooo. I spent some time figuring it out and ended up with a hexagon box instead of a circle. This is for my friend's granddaughter who is adorable and LOVES to craft. She is turning 8 this week and i wanted her to have it. I had to make some adjustments from the original online because of the height of the birthday cake. I think it turned out ok. I've used this adorable Bugaboo image and colored the little girl's hair the color of the "birthday girl". Now, i am hoping that if i send it out on Monday she will still get it in time for her birthday. :)

This is the last day of the month and i have spent most of it making "container" gifts and when i saw the example on Saturated Canary i decided to give it a try. This is my version of the "Mug gift" that was shown on the blog.

What i did:
You can't really see it, but i made a band around the cup..now mind you the cup is tapered so the band had to reflect that...not so fun. I also morphed two images...i wanted my girl to have some feet. I used the images "hot cocoa" and "snowman". I wished i had made the oval a bit smaller, but i am happy with this.

So Sweet Container

As i said at the beginning of the month, i am trying to make containers and such for this month. I made this container using Saturated Canary's image called "Norma Jean"...she is just so precious. She came with a plane, but i just cut her out to use. She is about 6" tall.

My thought was to fill the container with candy, which is why i used "So Sweet" for the title, but i thought the container could have yarn and needles and the person i am giving it to would be "So Sweet" or the container is for wine...i don't drink, so maybe it can be considered sweet? Don't know. lol.

The frame around the image is from the Heritage cartridge.

I am making this Alice tag to go with this Christmas gift. The digital image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and all of her images are awesome. This one is a bit harder for me to color because it is drawn with thin lines and of course i made it harder by reducing the size to 2". Yikes!

Looks like there will be 2 more challenges that i will do for fall...i guess i've been in a Christmas mode since the beginning of October..lol. So this is one of my favorite images...well i like them all so they are ALL my favorites at Tiddly Inks. Here is what you will need to finish your book (these 3 pieces of paper from your pad):

Diecuts for the front of the book:
"12" from Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art (or any numbers) cut at .63 height (gypsy)
"days of" from Robotz cart cut at .51 height (gypsy)
"Christmas" from Hoot n Holler cart cut at 2.59 height (gypsy)

Cut out the numbers 1-12 from your 12 x 12 sheet and the "Merry Christmas" block found on that sheet. You will place the numbers on each page as shown in the photo (or where ever you want to based on your photos)

Bakers twine 3- pieces cut at 5"
Tag from 12 x 12 paper- cut the tag down to 1 3/4 x 3 1/2
Put stocking together as shown and loop the baker's twine in the loop of the stocking.

Use a heavy duty double sided tape to "hang" your stockings at the top of the flap. Put tape on top of the baker's twine as well. Tape the Sugar plums tag on top of the "hanging stockings" as shown.

Alice "Eat Me" Christmas gift take 2

This is the second gift i've made this week. This time i am using a Digi My World "Alice" stamp. She is so delicate...i like her a lot. You can find her here. I chose to color her with a Christmas theme in mind. The bottle tag is a diecut and i welded the words, "Eat Me" on the side. The bottle is filled with Christmas chocolate balls.

I have also used the sketch from Grapicat Sketchs Challenge blog (I rotated the sketch).

Coke Soda Bottle Christmas Reindeer gift

Found this super cute idea on Pinterest to make Soda/beer bottles into Reindeer. I thought it would be cute to make them using the Christmas Coke bottles.

Supplies/tools needed:
Glue gun for pom pom nose
Scissors
Ribbon
Brown Pipe Cleaners
Googly Eyes (i used the sticker version)
Red Glitter Pom poms

What i did:
1. Bend pipe cleaner in half to find the center. Cut 2- 2 1/4" pipe cleaner pieces for the antlers. Wrap the 2 1/4" pieces at the end of the pipe cleaners to create the antler look...you only need to twist it around once.
2. Wrap the finished antlers around the top of the bottle just under the bottle cap with the "center" (you found in step one) in the front where you want to put your eyes/nose.
3. Attach eyes just under the cap, and then hot glue the nose under the eyes.
4. Cut a piece of ribbon 10" long..i used 1/2" ribbon, if your ribbon is wider you might have to add more length. You could also use cut fleece to make it look like a scarf. Tie this ribbon under his nose.
5. Ta da you now have a Christmas Coke Reindeer..what do you think? I am using this gift to go w/gift cards this year.
