It's a BIG stretch for me.. Zentangle My Besties Style

OK, so this last week or so i've been really stretching my crafting skills..  I used to doodle all the time, but now there is Zentangle..i still think it is doodling...but it's really awesome to look at.  I pinned several images to get inspired to make this card.

I feel like i am defacing the My Besties image i used..i went as far as trying to design the lips and failed..so now she has teeth.. i drew a couple of lines on her lips and my angel looked like a zombie..so i went with it and colored in more black and gave her teeth.. So i am calling those Zen teeth.  I drew inside of her irises, her hair, wings, the cloud...it was helpful and reduced some stress...

I will put up the original sweet angel at the bottom... For now here is what i created using this technique..oh yeah, i needed to enlarge this image to 6" in order to draw inside the lines of the image.

Copics used:
skin- YR000, 00, E02
hair- Y11, 15, 19
eyes- B63, 66

My Besties 3-D Deco Decoupage Challenge - Willow Wisp Fairy

This week at My Besties 3-D Deco Challenge blog we have another great challenge for you!

The theme is to add Flowers and Lace to your 3-D My Besties card/project.

To participate in our challenges:

All we ask is that your My-Bestie Image has 3 or more layers, making it raised up from the surface of your Card/Project and to follow the challenge theme.

Some more info about the My Besties 3-D sheets available for you to use:

These sheets are fun and easy to use!  They are all pre-colored for you, all you do is print out your sheets, cut out the pieces you wish to use and layer them with foam tape, foam dots/squares or Silicone glue.

This week i decided to share a project/album with you.  I've had this die i've been wanting to use and without the coloring i had a lot more time to put this together, plus the die was easy to use.
For this project i am using Willow Wisp Fairy found here.

more views..i used the designer paper sheets for the framing of the accordion mini album, the accordion badge was also designer paper from the 3-D "sheets".  This is the side view:
Here is the closed album:

My Besties Letter S..it's for Sadie you know!

My only granddaughter's name is Sadie and i had to make this up for her!  Her bedroom is girly but the walls are painted sky blue with hand painted trees..i think this will go really well, but not sure there is a spot left on the wall.   Not a problem because this also has an easel in the back for a shelf.

Anyway, i was excited to see the alphabet at Sherri Baldy's My Besties Etsy store..a lot more choices.. i have the letter "H" also and have an idea for that.  Link for the alphabet is here.

So i made this project with at least 3 challenges in mind...
Let me say the crocheted sweet flowers were made by my friend, Jennifer for me as a gift.  Another friend, Sigi, made the daisies by hand, she sells these to help feed wild life that she rehabilitates.  Her blog is here if you want to help her out.

I've used a lot of dies on this project..i thought i'd be cranking that handle all day.  LOL.  Let's start in the upper right hand corner..that is a Memory Box die, and so is the vine in the bottom left corner..oh and the small doily behind the image head is also Memory Box.  The corner dies inside the frame are from Cheery Lynn and so is the paper lace border behind the image.  The grass is from Noor/Joy Craft.

Challenges:
My Besties Dutch Girls- Doily w/My Besties image
My Besties USA- Bingo (top row - Flowers, Ribbon, Pink)
Scrapbook Stamp Society- Anything goes/option to make your own flowers

My Besties Rose Blossom Geisha - Aussie My Besties challenge

I am so very honored to be chosen to be the Guest Designer at My Besties Aussie Challenge blog.  If you've not visited this challenge blog you should go and see the beautiful work that the Design Team does there.  It's always so amazing and you can get so much inspiration for making cards.

This challenge is for 2 weeks starting today and the theme is "Life of Pearls and Bling"

I wanted the team to be proud of me so i made this lovely image into a card..she caught my eye on Sherri Baldy's My Besties Etsy store right away.   The name of this image (and few of the images are named) is called Rose Blossom Geisha.
I have been to Japan one time..and one of the ladies there gave me a piece of their kimonos..it is blue, maybe more of a cornflower blue, but similar to this.  Whenever i think of Japanese paper umbrella's i think they are colorful and i went with a red so it would all be pleasing with the color scheme.

I've used many dies on this card, the upper left corner is a Memory Box sunflower outline with a Doo Hickey snowflake for the center.  the Other flowers are Marianne dies along with the outlined leaves.  The brown branch and leaves are a Memory Box die.  The butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch.  The frame is a Tattered Lace die.   The embossing in the back ground is a Embossilicious folder.

Copics used:
skin/lips- E50, 02, R35
hair- C5, 7
kimono- B91, 93, 95
head band/waistband- RV21, 23, 25

Sami Stamps - Little Flower Fairy and a Mushroom Collection!

What???  Yes, you read that title right..it is a new release called Mushroom Fairies from
Sami Stamps and it's Fariy-ness goodness!  YAY.

My youngest who is in her 30's..loves Fairies and has a room with fairy-ness things we bought when we lived in Wales, UK.  So when ever i see an image i think, oh, yeah Kerri would love this!  So i am totally dedicating this card to her..  The images i have used are called, Little Flower Fairy and Fairy Mushroom collection.

Can you tell what i did..i took 4 images and placed them on cardstock.  I then colored what i wanted to be the first layer with my copics, then i printed off another sheet of the same size images and colored in the fairy dress and mushroom caps.  Now can you guess why i decided to do that?  Well, two reasons, one is i can cut pretty well, but not those sweet whispy lines around the mushroom stems..then i envisioned the fairy sprinkling fairy dust on them..and thought ah, ha..i will place them altogether..like a scene!   Then i got to play with some Fran-tage too, and that's my "fairy-dust".

Dies i used:
Those are Noor/Joy Craft corner dies..lovely aren't they?  They are a dark purple..but as always anything dark in my photos looks black.

Copics:
skin- YR000, 00, R02
hair- E53, 55
dress- B63, 66, BV00, 04
wings/eyes- BG0000

My Besties 3-D Deco (Decoupage) challenge with Sweet Rose Bud!

A brand new challenge has started at My Besties today, it is called My Besties 3-D Deco and you can find it by clicking here or the name of the challenge blog.

The challenge starts today and goes for 2 wks. The challenge is on Australia time so make sure you check when it ends.

The challenge them is Hearts and you must use a My Besties image.  You can use the new decoupage sheets or you can make your own My Besties that you already own into a 3-D decoupage image.

Do you know what 3-D decoupage is?  There are several YouTube videos to watch, but simply, it is having several layers of the image built up by using foam tape or silicone glue.  Usually, the layers would be built up by what would stick out farther.  So imagine the figure was laying flat on it's back..what parts would be to the back and what would be at the top..most the times the nose would be the highest point..but not many people just cut the nose out unless it would be a snowman, so the head would be the last layer or anything in the hair (example the button on the headband on my card is the last layer. )  Click Here to see my tutorial on making your own 3-D decoupage art using a digital image.

Well, what's cool about My Besties 3-D decoupage sheets is that the layering is already figured out for you, all you need to do is cut the pieces out and glue them on top of each other! Oh and you get digital paper as well!  I've used the digital paper on my card.

The new 3-D decoupage sheets are found here!

Here is my card i'd love to share with you!
Looking from the side you can see the 3-d look on the image and roses.  The hearts and buttons are also included in the 3-D deco sheets!

A little tutorial on making a 3-d decoupage digi stamp art using a My Besties image!

Tomorrow is the big day!  It's the day when My Besties 3-D Deco challenges begin!  So to get you all excited to participate in our first challenge, i thought i'd show you how to use a digital image to make your own 3-D decoupage image art.

For your convenience, you can purchase My Besties 3-D Deco sheets at the store, these are already set up for you and all you have to do is cut them out..check those out here.

For my example i am using a My Besties i call "Garden Hat" found here.
Here is the finished card for you to see and get you enticed to make this fun art!
Another view to see the dimension:

Here is how i made my image 3-D..a lot like paper piecing but more layers!
First you need (in this case) 5 images.   (click the image below to see the layers for this image and what i cut off each layer to make the dimension)
Once you have your image cut out in layers you can then start putting the layers back on top of the base image (layer 1).

First let's talk about glue/tape.  It is suggested on line to use silicon glue, i've not found any in the local/national craft stores..you will probably have to order it on line.  So because i didn't have any on hand, i went with the foam tape.  I should have taken a picture of where i put the tape on the back, but i didn't.  A tip would be not to have it close to the edge, as it will show.

Now let's start layering: (click pictures to see closer)
Put layer 2 on top of layer one..
(of course this picture had to be blurred)                                        Now let's add layer 3 to Layer 2

Now for layer 4 to layer 3                                            For the last layer, you will add layer 5 to layer 4

Now let's see what you can do!  Thanks for looking!

Tuesday Morning Sketches- All Dressed Up- Cute Puppy

For this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, our sponsor is All Dressed Up..super adorable images sold on Etsy.. click the name to go to the store!

There is a twist this week, add some pearls and lace to your sketch!

Here is my card using a freebie from the All Dressed Up blog, please come and join us at Tuesday Morning Sketches for this challenge:
I have a story to tell about this image.. sooo very cute, and my copics decided to go blastic..and shiny and ruined the head..so what to do?  I paper pieced the head and shaded it.  That decision was made after my printer went blastic as well.  It would not print the entire image just the head..so i thought ok, i will print just the head and paper piece it.  Since that time we have purchased a new printer..printing images is a very important thing when you are on a DT or two...makes the images a bit more expensive when you have to buy a printer. :0)

My Besties Garden Delight

I wanted to try using some new things for this post.  It's the first time i've used Fran-tage.  I thought i'd try the antique blue..but now i wonder if it made My Besties image look cold?

For this card i used Lifestyle Crafts stacking die for the card base and basic oval and scalloped oval. Background doily die and grass die is Noor/Joy Craft. I've also used Marianne Designs fence.  The lacy heart is from Cheery Lynn dies.  The charm is from Spoilt Rotten Beads UK (my favorite place):
