Slider card tutorial using the YNS Peek-a-Boo Tear Away Door

As always i was checking out Pinterest and came across this popular card called a Slider card.  The pin had a link to Youtube and i watched it and started thinking..wait a minute, i have a die similar to this card..but without all of the measuring and cutting preciously.

The difference is instead of the YNS die being vertical like the Youtube video shows it is horizontal..and thought..surely this is doable..so a set out to give it a try.

I would suggest for you to watch the Youtube video to get some idea of the construction. Click here.

Ok, so now that you've seen the video..i will give you a picture step-by-step of how i made my card using the YNS die called "Peek-a-Boo Tear Away Door".  You can find the die here.

Here is my finished card made for the YNS blog hop going on from April1-3.. (Link to the hop here)
Here is a picture of the die so you will know what pieces you are looking at in my pictures:

There are 3 pieces to this die, the scallop rectangle on the outside, the solid rectangle in the middle and the tear-away door.

Step one place the "tear away door" die and the scallop rectangle die on a piece of paper like this:

Next find a "coordinating" paper for the "pull tab" that will be coming out from the back of the card (see white dotted paper on the finished card.  You will be using the plain rectangle from the this die set to make this.

Now we need to open up the perforated door.  You will be scoring the door only not the scalloped "mat".   Score the door at 1/4" (closest to the "thumbnail pull" and then at 1 1/4"..the "hinge" is already scored from the die.  The first score will be a valley fold the next a peak and the last a valley as shown in the picture to the right:

Now you will add the "pull tab" to the back of the door by putting some red line tape on the underside of the 1/4 score line
as shown in the picture.
Once you've centered the "pull tab" underneath you can attach it as shown in the right photo..

Note**Check out the next photo as well to see the alignment. on the back side.
The butterfly paper is the back side of the dotted paper. The striped paper is the "bingo" pull i used..in the video she used ribbon.

Okay, now that you have the pull tab set..you can add red line tape to the sides of your scallop door..  This is a "skinny area" and if you have 1/8" (if there is such a thing) i'd recommend it..i had to cut the tape on part of the scallops.  Normally, as in the video, you would tape the 3 sides but with the base i used it would have showed so i opted for just the sides and it works fine.   If you are a seamtress you could sew the 3 sides...just make sure you leave the "pull tab" side open. :0)  Okay center it up and attach it.

Now for the fun part.. LOL (actually i have the toughest time with rubber stamping..sure as anything i get my project done and the stamp doesn't stamp clearly or it smudges..you know)  I pull back the tab pull using the "bingo" pull and stamp my sentiment.   I also added a Spellbinders oval...which than allowed for my cut image..but some of you aren't into cutting so you can just add your image where the oval is.  Yay..  Now wasn't that fun???
