Woodland Happy Birthday

I have been re-doing some older cards because i really didn't like how they looked, i've not ever shared the older version before, this way you can compare.

I am using this sketch from The Sweet Stop and have added their twist of "ruffles".

I love it when i can figure out how to do 3 challenges and one card...and i really like it because the final product is so much more different if it had only been one challenge...not always but sometimes.

So for the first challenge it is a sketch and the sketch is from Just Magnolia:

The second challenge was from Magnolia Stamp Lovers is to use squares and the sketch really made it easy to do that i think.

Next and last challenge is from Magnolia Down Under and the challenge is to make your own embellishments.  I crocheted baker's twine and made a knotted trim and a crocheted square to go behind the flower button.

Thank you for being my Rainbow on a cloudy day!

I just found this Magnolia sentiment and i wanted to use it in my challenge, so i obviously needed a rainbow too and then i had to think of what image would look good on top of the rainbow and came up with this Tilda..

Now for the challenge..it is an inspirational photo, a sketch and the color yellow...and for the second challenge it was "Anything goes" so that worked..yay!

Another card Tutorial using a Sketch by Carly

I love these sketches from Sketches by Carly and i've made two cards using this sketch.  My first card using this sketch is here.

No measurements for this card just step by step.  I am using a 5 x 5 card base.  I've also used the Lifestyle Happy Birthday embossing folder for the background.

Sparkly Angel

Actually, the background is all glitter applied to double sided tape..can you believe it..i am NOT a glitter person.  I tried this technique with one of my friends and bought this huge roll of tape thinking i'd be doing these cards a ton..and sadly i am not.  I will need to be creative and start using this big roll before the stickiness no longer works. :(

First of all this is the sketch i am using and it is from Kathy's Waffle Sketch File:

Here is my tutorial for the glitter background:

First you need some double sided paper, 

i used Sookwang brand

Once i pulled the backing off of the double sided tape i used the backing to cut a circle.  Not having a Spellbinder's circle that is large enough, i folded the paper in half twice and cut out a circle that way.

Looking at the sketch i need a circle inside of a circle, so i am cutting my circle using the Spellbinder's die

I place the backing back on top of the double sided tape that is on the front of my card (both circles) making sure they are pressed down well.  Then i add the glitter to the exposed tape.

This is what it looks like once the glitter is attached. After each color i use i "burnish" the glitter by rubbing my finger over the glitter.  It gets shinier when i do this too.

Now i peel off the large circle only..again make sure the small circle is pressed down well around the edges.

Now i add the next color, yellow and repeat the burnishing.

Last color is green..do you see the blue spot on the green?  That is because i didn't push down the edges well.  No problem i was able to cover it with my image. 

 


I use glue dots to attach the paper embellishments
and foam dots when i attached my image.

This is my Copic class from Lesson 4...we are coloring w/the colorless blender...i've not colored in reverse before, so this was new to me.  The images are exclusive for Creative Passion made by my instructor Michelle.

Happy Birthday, Wild Thing!

This image is from a class i am taking at Creative Passion..this image is from lesson 3..and again..i love this image, but alas, i already had it. :(  We were taught in this lesson how to add texture with the colorless blender and how to stipple the background..i opted out of the background coloring.  My close up picture is a little washed out, sorry.  I used a LifeStyle embossing folder and some Japanese style tape for the corners.
