Sherri Baldy's My Besties Giraffe, teeny tiny paper piecing tutorial

Hi there!  I was showing a friend how to do paper piecing using my computer and was taking pictures as i was going and thought..gheesh..might as well make it a tiny tiny tutorial!  :)

So just to peak your interest..this is what i ended up making with the paper pieced giraffe from My Besties..
If you want to try this image doing paper piecing like i did you can find the image here.

Now lets get started:

First i found a newspaper print type designer paper..but wait..if you don't have any..guess what?  I have an alternative way to make the newspaper designer paper.  If you have a stamp that has this look and you have a gray ink pad, you can print out your digi stamp and then stamp on top of the image with your newspaper print type stamp...or you can find some free printable book paper on line and print it out as light as possible and then print your digi image using that paper... All great alternatives.

Second, obviously print out your image..like i said i had a scrap piece of paper and i taped just the corners to a computer sheet of paper and printed off my giraffe.

Then i printed it again on some pink scrap paper.. like this:
All i wanted to cover was the skirt and bows.

Now for the fun part.  I cut out the "newsprint" image and just the skirt and bows on the other printed image.  Like this:
I then glue the Pink pieces onto the newspaper print image. My cute little image needed some color, so i pulled out my watercolor pencils..using a pink and gray.

Ta Da.. now she is ready for a card!

Some dies i used on my card above:
Card base and baby word- Marianne designs
Tag- Doo Hickey
foliage- Noor/ Joy Craft
Star doily frame- Nellie Snellen
doily oval behind giraffe- Lifestyle crafts
flower doily- Prima

Welcome to the start of a new 2 week challenge at My Besties International Challenge blog!

I have always been a fan of the color brown ever since i was really young, i think it was because i had this dress that was a gingham check of black and brown that my mom made for me...maybe it's just good memories.

So i decided to use the browns and more fall colors for this card and i gave it a "steampunk" twist too!

More details:
I am using the wonderful My Besties Digi called "Fancy Pants Feeling Pretty"

Dies used:
card base is Lifestyle crafts, small brown die is Memory Box, the view master die is from Little Darlings , the brown foliage is Doo Hickey and the green foliage is Noor/Joy Crafts

Sherri Baldy's My Besties and Anne of Green Gables

I am really excited about his card.  I started making this card because of My Bestie French Challenge and as it evolved..i looked at her and thought, she is Anne of Green Gables!

So with that idea brewing, i thought...wait, i have the perfect sentiment in my stash from Kraftin Kimmie stamps..  So then i always think of traveling when i think of Anne of Green Gables..so i went with a postage stamp die for the card base and smaller ones as accents from the side.

Here is my card using My Besties image 781:

Copics used:
Skin- YR000, 00, E02

Your Next Stamp - YNS Special Day of Tips and Tricks featuring Autumn Leaves puppy

Hi all, it is my special day at Your Next Stamp's Blog.  I would like to share one of my Tips/Tricks i use when using Your Next Stamps digital images.

Sometimes, when you look at an digital image, you might think it is seasonal and you can only use it for that season.  I try to look beyond the season to see how i can get more usage out of a digital image.

This month for the Your Next Stamp Challenge Blog, i will be using this Tip/Tricks for all of my Design Team cards.  Last Friday, i used the digital image "Kiss Me" and just used the little girl.  Did you wonder how i did that?

Using the image "Autumn Leaves" i will show you how, first here is the finished card using the current YNS Challenge Blog sketch:
First of all, here is the original image Autumn Leaves found here:

1. If you like a white background instead of fussy cutting, i take the digital image to my program that will erase lines, i use Photo Shop.

2. For fussy cutting or if i want a white background, I crop the image to what i will be using. In this case just around the puppy's head and birds.

3. Then using the eraser, i erase all of the background that i don't want.

*Tip- You will want to make sure that you don't leave any bits of lines that you don't want because if you prefer a white background instead of fussy cutting this will be important.

4. If you are a fussy cutter instead of using a white background, you will not need to erase any lines.  (I am sure there are other ways of removing the background, for now, this is how i've been doing it)

5. I then, bring the image to Word after i crop and erase the background so that i can get the size i want and position it on the paper i am using.  Again, i am sure all of that can be done in Photoshop too.

*Tip- I made this image 3" high.

6. Color your image and in my case i fussy cut it out.

7.  Now you have an image that can be used for ANY season or occasion.

Another example of changing the seasonal images to any season or occasion using the image "Kiss Me":

I hope you enjoyed my Tips/Tricks today..  If any of you have a tip for erasing the backgrounds, i'd love to know!  Thanks!

My Besties Dutch Girls Birthday Celebration!

As soon as i saw that the My Besties Dutch Girls were having a Birthday Celebration, i wanted to participate.   However, this has been a really busy time, with the grand kids going back to school.  I had picked up this clock at a charity shop with the intentions of using it for this challenge of "Anything but a card".

Seeing as i picked up the clock at a charity shop on the west side of Michigan, it wasn't surprising that i found a tulip themed clock, seeing the area is Dutch/American.

This is what the finished project looks like:
This is how the clock started out:

Sherri Baldy's My Besties Wee One Fairy is Hot off the presses...

I am so excited about this new Sherri Baldy's My Besties Wee One Digi..she is so wonderful!

As soon as Sherri released this image and shared it on her Facebook page, i instantly wanted to color it.  I have to be honest, like with most of my coloring, this image took on a life of it's own.  It isn't what i had envisioned. I was thinking more woodsy looking, and as i started to color, i started thinking winter...and then i ended up with neither and a whole new color scheme of Copics that i had not combined before, especially the wings.  Oh yeah, and i thought i was going to Fran-tage the wings but liked them so well, i left them alone.

So here she is..and i made her into an Easel card too!  She is img0003.
Here is my card closed:
This one will be hard for me to put up on my Etsy Store.  I really like her. :)

Dies used:
leaf frame- Poppy Stamps dies
