Smile...It's your birthday!

This is an image i received when i took an online class, the image was approved by Christy, i took the class with Michelle Houghton.  Sad thing is i never finished the class in October because i had leg surgery and couldn't sit for half of the month for very long.

Anyway, i am so happy i am finally using this image...of course i didn't follow the instructor's directions and colored mine like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.

The theme at Tiddly Inks is "Birthday Bash" and that's because Christy just turned 40 on March 29 and we are celebrating!

Here is my card in honor of Christy:

i also followed this sketch at deconstructing jen...(tell you what this was a doozie...it was super fun and hard..and i loved it)

Thinking of you

This card represents 3 challenges in one...i am so excited with the theme and then i get to use an awesome sketch too..and then the sentiment and embellishments from another challenge...it makes a perfect card that i wouldn't have thought to do without all of these challenges..so cool.

The first thing to do is to think of chocolate or as it is written at the challenge.. "mmm Choklit"...sounds good no matter how it's spelled.  I wanted to be a bit creative and not use the cute bear pulling the Easter egg...so i looked at my stash and found a cute monkey w/a Christmas Pud that i turned into a chocolate covered strawberry...i thought the leaves could go for that, but i had to cover the berries at the top and that is how my chocolate butterflies came in handy..yipee!

Easter- For a Sweet Little Girl

I am so fortunate to be able to be on a design team that has Dearie Dolls as our sponsor and then to be able to create w/their images is definitely icing on the cake!

At Card Crafter's Circle this week we are making Easter cards and i made mine using this cute, cute bunny from Dearie DollsDearie Dolls prize this week is 3 images for the lucky random winner!

Here is the card i made using this cute little bunny called, "Bunny in Carrot Dress"

What i did:
Did you know that if you have a program called Scal2 you can cut your digital images outlines and make them into card bases?  That's what i did for this card.  Basically you ungroup the lines and just cut out the outside line.  You make the card by welding a mirror image to the original.  Pretty neat, huh?  The hard part is matching up the printed image..i was a little off for this one..but next time, i will get it down. :)
I also paper pieced the dress and bow on this image and colored in the carrots and shaded the dress.  I punched a little hole and strung the tag through it and tied it into a bow. I think i might add really doll buttons to the dress as well. :)

Ahoy Matey!

I know i just made a pirate card...but not the "girl" version...and i HAD to combine this challenge because the theme (Pirate) and the sketch worked so very well with each other..i hope you think so too. :)

Here is my card...and it has a special flap...(that i hope looks like a sail)..

Sitting Pretty

I have started doing Magnolia/Tilda cards..and my love for them is a bit "reversed"..kind of like in the early 80's when we bought the "Thriller" VHS before we had a VCR...well, maybe not exactly the same...Tilda is cute...oh forgot to finish my thought..I have fallen in love with the creations made w/the Tilda stamp..i LOVE the Magnolia INK magazine..and that is why i have really start to purchase the stamps...funny, huh?

I thought i'd give this challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lover's Blog a try.  We are to use Basic Grey paper in our project and here is my card:

Bubble bath fun and glitter tutorial

Just so you know, i am NOT a glitter fan.  Mo's Challenge blog wants the crafters participating in their challenge to "Bling it on"...but there is something about the colors MS has in her glitter section that beckons me...  My friend, Aga, introduced me to this super technique, using Ritz glitter, but i've found the MS glitter works just as well and is more readily available to me at Michaels...and can i say 40% off coupon. :)

So first i will share my card and then my tutorial on how i did the glitter part:

The sketch i used is from Seems a Little Sketchy #9:

Now for my tutorial for making the glitter embellishments...not too hard really:
First you will need some heavy-duty double sided tape...i purchased Sookwang in a large roll...it will cover a large portion (if not all of a standard card front), for this project i cut a strip a little wider than my border punch...(remember not all border punches like thicknesses...i used the Reminisce brand...and it wasn't happy with this thickness, the best punch i've used so far is EK Success...and it's like the name..success-ful!)
I used double sided paper also and attached the strip to the lighter side and then a strip to the darker side.  Then i used my border punches.

**Remember the side that you put your tape on is the side that will be up and have glitter attached to it.

Punch out both of your borders and then add the glitter to the tape, tap off and burnish the glitter.
(Burnishing is just rubbing and pushing the glitter down..it makes it "shine" more and i found that the MS glitter was more sparkly.)
This is the "Glitter Ritz" brand

This is the Martha Stewart brand.
The punches cut out w/the tape. And the burnishing i am doing w/my finger.

The finished border punches ready for my card base.

Alice eats Cake

Who knew??..i found the perfect "sentiment" from a book i found at a charity shop...it has come in handy for many projects so far...of course i had to spend a bit of time re-reading the book to find the sentiment i wanted and that would fit. LOL

Sooo, i made this card for the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog challenge #13 and the theme is..."twine".  Of course, i can't just put twine wrapped around this time...like i normally do...no, i have to make it a bit more complicated and i crocheted the twine and put it on the watch as it's "chain".   You can't see it too much but the key is also tied on w/twine. (oh and the image isn't called..Alice...i am using her as such)

So here is my card:

The sketch i used is from I (heart) 2 stamp:
