I came across this ad for a new Marianne Die and was fascinated with the card and how the die worked..i have still not made a "full-blown" carousel card (not like the ride, but like the shape). This project/card is a quarter of the actual full blown carousel card. What is cool now, is that Marianne Creatables/Designs has made a die that can make 3 different size carousel cards/projects. I have used the middle die in the set. I did a lot of research on the internet to "see" the intention behind this die, but really haven't found out the real intention for this die yet, but in searching i've found a few Carousel cards. I was so intrigued that i shared this idea with a friend that does a lot of hand cutting and she took off on this concept right away and created her own cards by hand..and they are gorgeous. (If you want to take a look at her creations you should check out her blog- Sigi's Creations)

Here is the inside of my Carousel Card:
What is cool about this card is that if folds up into itself to make a quarter of this size.
Here is the card closed:
For my card i added pop ups inside and they stick out slightly when closed, i had to make sure i offset the clock and the penguins so that they wouldn't get folded:
To make it easier to close i cut the background embossing paper into quarters. The same with the doily die. I didn't, however, cut the dies in the center of the oval frame..those are corner dies...again from Marianne Creatables. The clock is also a Marianne Creatables die...to give it a "mantel" look i cut out another larger corner die and placed it behind the clock both of the corner dies were pointing up. After i embossed the clock i also stained it using Tim Holtz distress ink.
Copics used:
C1, 3, 5, 7, R20, 22, B91, BG10, 11, 13, YR12
Gelly Roll pen, Stickles diamond
