Halloween card

I used watercolor paper and colored pencils to create the sky background.  Stamped the witch image w/stazon ink.

I stitched around the outside edges to hold down the "curled up" edges of the watercolor paper.  Added the paper corners and changed my thread so the stitching wouldn't show through on the back.

Stamped the pumpkin image onto acrylic and colored that in with the new bic mark-it markers.

I made my own envelope and stamped the images with stazon ink.  I liked the stitching so well on the card that i added it to my envelope and taped the back of the stitching down.

here was my inspiration- tutorial #116:

I actually saw this card in another location on the internet and didn't find the instructions until after i made my card.

Grandma & Me Halloween Card

I made this card with my grandsons.  They helped by coloring the pumpkin and the grass.  It is a 6 x 6" card and can be used in a scrapbook album.  Below is the step-by-step instructions.  Thanks for looking.

Stamp a pumpkin

Grandma stamped a pumpkin for the boys to color.

Coloring pumpkins for card

I taped down the stamped pumpkin for the boys to color.  It doesn't matter if they scribble because in the next step we cut out the pumpkin.

Cutting out the boys colored pumpkins

After the boys colored their pumpkins, i cut them out so that i could mat them.

Matting the colored/stamped pumpkins

I decided that the pumpkins needed a bit more color.  After cutting them out i adhered them to some orange paper and cut them out again.

Boys coloring their grass for the card

Both boys were given a piece of white cardstock with masking tape to keep it in place.

Cutting "Grass" into strips

After the boys colored their pieces of paper i cut them into strips and then into small sections.  See the next photo below.

Green grass

I cut green cardstock into strips using a zigzag decorative scissor.  *Tip - I cut strips on both sides with the decorative scissors and then cut down the middle with the paper cutter.  Make sure you make the strips wide enough to cut down the middle.
I then adhered the "grass" colored by the boys onto the green zigzag strips.

Photo placement

I used photo shop picture package to make 20 2"x 2" photos.  See the placement of the photos in this picture.

Captions for pictures

I cut out all the 2 x 2 photos of the boys and adhered them to an 8.5 x 11 white cardstock that i printed off the captions on.  I did a two column in word and allowed the space for each picture.  I used the "Tom's Headache" font.  I cut each one of the pictures out

Background template for card

I used a small plate to make the curve for my background patterned paper template.  I corner rounded the background paper before i adhered it to the black card.

Corner rounding

After you've cut out the template for the front and adhered it, you can round the corners on the top and bottom right hand side of the black card using a corner punch.

Inside of Halloween Card

I adhered the leftover scrap from the front of the card to the left of the inside of the card.
Printed "Happy Halloween" with the "Tom's Headache" font.  I left some room for the signatures and a possible embellishment hanging from the greeting.

Making a 6" x 6" Envelope template for my card

Looking at an envelope i had i designed my own
Using my 12 x 12 paper to make an envelope.  This is a great way to use up "older" paper.  If the pattern would have been solid i would have reversed the envelope to the patterned side.  Now i need to check on postage rates for a 6 x 6" envelope!
