Hi there! I was showing a friend how to do paper piecing using my computer and was taking pictures as i was going and thought..gheesh..might as well make it a tiny tiny tutorial! :)
So just to peak your interest..this is what i ended up making with the paper pieced giraffe from My Besties..
If you want to try this image doing paper piecing like i did you can find the image here.
Now lets get started:
First i found a newspaper print type designer paper..but wait..if you don't have any..guess what? I have an alternative way to make the newspaper designer paper. If you have a stamp that has this look and you have a gray ink pad, you can print out your digi stamp and then stamp on top of the image with your newspaper print type stamp...or you can find some free printable book paper on line and print it out as light as possible and then print your digi image using that paper... All great alternatives.
Second, obviously print out your image..like i said i had a scrap piece of paper and i taped just the corners to a computer sheet of paper and printed off my giraffe.
Then i printed it again on some pink scrap paper.. like this:
All i wanted to cover was the skirt and bows.
Now for the fun part. I cut out the "newsprint" image and just the skirt and bows on the other printed image. Like this:
I then glue the Pink pieces onto the newspaper print image. My cute little image needed some color, so i pulled out my watercolor pencils..using a pink and gray.
Ta Da.. now she is ready for a card!
Some dies i used on my card above:
Card base and baby word- Marianne designs
Tag- Doo Hickey
foliage- Noor/ Joy Craft
Star doily frame- Nellie Snellen
doily oval behind giraffe- Lifestyle crafts
flower doily- Prima
Challenges:
Papertake Weekly Challenge- To Die For
PDE Linky Party- Metal dies or Punches
Scrapbook Stamp Society- Anything goes option/vintage
