Something NEW.. Frames with PNG/transparent windows! Tutorial included

I always want to push the boundaries when i create digital paper and be more creative.
This time i wanted to create a paper that had frames that were transparent.
Why?
I thought it might be more fun to be creative and
add other papers, photos or images in the framed area.

Some people are afraid to give it a try because it IS different. But really, it's not so hard.

Let me explain...
If you can put a watermark on your card, you can layer digital paper.
You pick your paper and then use the PNG paper (like a watermark works) on TOP of the first paper.
You can also copy, paste and rotate a photo behind the frame opening.

You can take it one step further, and layer 3 items.. like a sandwich.
First pull up a digital paper you want behind the frames, then pull up a photo or use one of the Spring Cuties like i did on this card.
You will have to resize and rotate it to make it fit.
And then put the Framed PNG paper on top.. like icing on a cake!

Anyway, this is what it can look like..i also hand cut the framed paper so the background white didn't show.

Or you can just print it on white paper. :)
And resize the Spring Cuties and paper to fit in the opening and hand cut everything. :)

I am using We Are 3 Digital Printables called, Spring Cuties

4 sheets in this set are PNG papers. So that you can "frame" something. You can layer this paper just like your watermarks. (All you do is think of the frame paper as your watermark)
  • 1 Select what you would like for your background and place that on your program's canvas/workspace. (I used digital paper and resized it to 5" to fit my card)
  • 2 Select the Frame It paper color you would like to use. Make sure you use the PNG format (I have included PNG and JPG formats in this collection). Put that on top of your background paper just like you would your watermark. You should see your background layer in the "inside" of the frames. I also resized the Frame It paper to 5" to match the background. You can have both the background and the top layer any size as long as it matches for this step.
  • 3 You can be more creative by selecting different things for your background layers and resizing them to fit the openings of the frames. You can actually put photos, digital images or printable scenes in the frames. (Your program needs to have an option to freely rotate at any degree if you want the background to be specific)
  • You will noticed if you do this step that the sides of the paper are cropped but your photos are not so they will stick out of the sides of the paper. Just cut them off when you cut out your paper.

I have used the NEW We Are 3 Digital Printables - Spring Cuties for one of my frame openings.

  • You can add something to fit int he frames by sandwiching the printable/photo paper etc. between the background paper you select and the top layer.
** For this card, I also hand cut the white around the outside of the frames after i printed it, so the white wouldn't show.
