Anne of Green Gables Bookmark

This bookmark is one of 4 "challenges" i made for myself...hoping to inspire my friend.  This inspiration came from my Pin board of things i'd like to make..only thing is..is that it totally doesn't look anything like the inspiration other than it is a bookmark and has a doily die.  That is mainly because i didn't have wide ribbon with me when i made this bookmark.  So what did i do...substituted and used chipboard...i like the sturdiness of this better...but the inspiration was sure pretty!

Happy Birthday- easel style

This card didn't turn out like i planned..i will explain below.  Again, this is a card featured in my friend Jenee's Pinterest board called "Pretty Stuff I'll Never Do".  I grin every time i write that, because those are challenging words to me...either that or i'd agree. LOL

I don't think this was an easel card on her board, and i'll tell you why...because if you want to keep the lacey look you can't cover it up with the card easel base.  So i cut out the card base and left an overhang so the card would fold..i probably left too big of an over hang, so the easel doesn't allow the card to stand up as straight as i liked, even though i like the lace look.  I might (later on) be able to make this stand up better.  Mean while it is what it is:

Ok, a bit about this card.  It is a smaller card..measuring 4 x 4".   So what i did, is i folded a piece of cardstock in half and lined up the fold just under the last line of lace so nothing would cut into the fold. After it was cut out i opened it up and bent the top back so that it would allow the card to stand up..(and this might have been my error...maybe it shouldn't have folded it back as far?)  Anyway, i lined up the lace on the card base to match up with the lace on the front of the separate card front.  This die has a perfect embossed square area and i used for my measurement for my background cut.  It measures around 2.75" x 2.75".  Then you can hardly see it, but i added the inside die from the outside die set and put that on top of the background matted square.    Using an oval die i cut out my sentiment/greeting and matted it with an oval scallop die.  I then ran that through the cuttlebug using the Stampin Up lattice embossing folder.  I used the Marianne die set (ivy leaves, bird house and bird) and then the Doo Hickey leaf die to complete my card.

I really tried to find a similar photo shown in the inspirational photo/card, but came to the conclusion that the picture of my mom would be more meaningful to me so i cropped a picture i had of her and used it instead.  I like it so well that i plan to frame it instead of using it as a card.

I was going to share a close-up but i don't think it is necessary.  The card base is 4 x 6".  The first layer is music sheet type paper, or you can use the paper at Graphic Fairy found here.  Oh and say you don't have an awesome photo like i do, my suggestion is to use this sweet fairy here and change your color scheme to blue. Ok, sizing..the first doily behind the picture measures 3.75 in diameter and then pink one on top of it measures 2.5", the small one with my mom's name/age is 1.5".  My mom's picture measures 2.25 x 2.75"

Fairy Ring card

I've been working on some cards that my friend, Jenee, had pinned to her Pinterest board called "Pretty Stuff I'll Never Do" and my hope was i'd get her to do some.   I cut and pieced the cards and didn't glue them down so i could video tape them for her.  I was told by someone that saw my YouTube videos that i needed to show the finished project first, so that people would be interested in my videos..and i thought that's kind of hard to do unless i had a program that allowed me to put the finished project first..so without that program, i "made" the card without gluing it down and decided to put the glued down finished project here. 

So this is the Fairy Ring Card i made (supplies will follow)

The card base is 4 x 6.  I resized the "background" paper found on Pinterest here, so that it would fit my card.  I took off the proportions in Word and made the background 4.92 x 5.92.  I used the "doily" Spellbinders that measured 2.75" in diameter.  I reduced the size of the fairy picture found here in Pinterest to 3" tall  and then cut it to measure 2 x 2".  The smallest die under the flower measures .75" in diameter.

Butterfly ball- all you have to do is Believe!

Kind of excited this week because i got to use a "Pin" from Pinterest.  I found this great technique using paper butterflies..and thought wait a minute i have paper i can use for that..and then with the challenges i wanted to do it all came together.

Here is my card using the "Butterfly ball" techinique.

I am using Lifestyles floral embossing folder and Stampin Up Lattice embossing folder.  I embossed the stamped image and cut her out..i did have to cut her head off and reposition the body to make it look like she was peeking out from behind the butterfly ball.  Here is the link from Pinterest, i changed how i made it..it is totally paper.   The challenge at Anyone for Anya was "NO Color"...so that is why the image is black and white and now embossed. :)

bibbidi bobbidi boo...It's a Ballerina!

A new month and a new release!  YAY...Where?  At Digital Delights!!  Why would i use those magical words for the title?

Well, i would like to introduce you to Ballerina Bobbi!  She is the one of the newest digital images at Digital Delights..and there is a theme..i am not going to tell you...you need to go check it out here at our blog...

There is something special about this card..and why this image is perfect for this technique.  I made the flipped vertical image and colored her..so that she can twirl inside this card.  The card can open and she can twirl around!  Oh, but wait,  made a video for you so you can see her twirl..It's only a few seconds and you can check it out here

What i did was cut out the center of the card using a decorative die, then i ran thread in the center and taped the ends down to the card.  Then i cut out the same die again out of the background paper and placed that over the opening on the card.  Next i cut out the green frame using the same die and the next size up die in the set.  I used foam tape to make the frame pop out.  I colored two images one facing right and one facing left (mirrored image).  I cut them out and used Xryon tape for the one image and centered it on the thread and card.  Then i attached the other image on top of the one i just placed on the thread, taking my time to match it up.  Then i added flowers and border dies.

This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we have a super sketch and sponsor!  I have pulled out one of my oldie but goodie stamps from my stash...it's really old. LOL..really.

I've always had a fondness for white haired ladies..i love the hint of blue or purple they have in their hair.  Honestly, i've not seen that since the 60's, but i always thought it was pretty.  I like that fact that i don't dye my hair..and that i don't have to maintain it...i don't have a problem with dyed hair, it's just not what i want to spend my time doing..plus..i am getting old and if my gray hair says that about me, i am ok with it.  It matches my body parts.  :o)
