Darlene is the owner of Dutch Paper Crafts and she has the most adorable dog called, Buddy..so sweet. The DT members like to make special gifts with Buddy's picture or for Buddy..and this is what i wanted to make for Darlene using the newest release for her shop.
I have used Memory Box Drop Ornament # 98378, Colette Ornament #98379 and Snowflake Tree #98405. The ornaments measure 4.25 and the tree measures 4.5.
Here is the Ornament:
Some other tools and a link to making the honeycomb ornament:
For the charm of Buddy (Darlene's dog), i used
Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio tool #24 round SSA16 bubble cap..this is super fun to use!
I used the Snowflake tree for the flourish on top of the ornament, by cutting it into pieces.
I also used Origami paper for the honeycomb ornament.
I also used Shrinky Dinks white for the ornament base that the Bubble picture is on. Again, you can cut out the Shrinky Dinks paper with your die. I tried the detailed ornament and it doesn't work..just the base (Drop Ornament die). You can see the size comparison. The ornament on the left is the actual die and the attached ornament/charm is what it looks like once you shrink your ornament. For my ornament, i used my heat gun..but be careful as it is hotter than the oven and can melt a hole in your ornament..i also used tweezers to start. (When in doubt follow the instructions on the packaging.
The link for making the honeycomb ornament is here. After watching the video, you will see that the picture below is how i set up the spacing for my glue dots...(it takes quite a bit of glue dots). Also, i did not have luck with putting the knot in the center of my ornament.
Now for the box to put the ornament in, i used Memory Box Snowflake Tree # 98405, Drop Ornament #98378, Colette Ornament #98379.
Here is my box:
Also used but not in this release is Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork #98153 (my absolutely favorite die ever!) I placed this die on each side of the ornament, but cutting the die in half once it was cut out.
What i did:
First i cut out 5 matted squares to put on the sides and the top lid of the box. I taped them on and then i cut out 4 matted strips for the side of the lid.
Then i die cut 4 of the snowflake trees and cut them so that the "bottom" of the tree could go on the lid corners and not be hidden under the lid. (plus the lid doesn't go on well with the extra thickness). I glued the dies on the box and then decoupaged on top of the dies with two layers...and i decoupaged the paper too, don't worry the paper seems to bubble up but when it dried it laid flat..
For the ornament on top of the box, i followed the directions for the honeycomb, but i only did 11 layers and then i laid it flat on top of the box. The papers i used on top of the box were not as flexible as the ornament...so they gave me more of an issue. I used decoupage to attach the Colette ornament die to the top of the honeycomb ornament. I purchased the white box at Michaels. I also used Arlene's Decoupage glue.
