Glass Christmas Ornament (gift)

How to make this ornament:
I hole punched the picture (using a 3" hole punch)and rolled it slightly using a pencil and slid it through the hole at the top (i removed the hanger thing) The picture will be slightly curled. You can use the eraser side of the pencil to try to flatten it to start, but ever so carefully i used the paper piercer to make it lay flatter by pressing it down. I had punched the bottom of my Christmas newsletter with the Martha Stewart Star border punch and decided to save the punched out stars for this type of project...i just picked up a bunch i saved in a baggie and put them in the hole, try, try to put them in front of the picture cause once they go behind the picture they won't go in front, unless you used a smaller circle hole punch for your picture.

Baby Door Hanger

This is the project i've been waiting to make. This is a door hanger for the "new" baby's bedroom. My inspiration came from this blog: http://www.danielleflanders.blogspot.com/ (Entry Oct 13.) Supplies are listed in her blog. It is chipboard "kit" it comes with sticker paper to cover the chipboard. She put two pieces together to get this shape. I traced around the two pieces to be able to use the shape later. I also traced around it to make a back piece instead of using the tape she suggested. The main supplies are called Pink Paisley and it looks like a part of the sale goes to breast cancer. If you notice in the "inspiration" there is a name under the bird/flower area.

This is a picture i took when i lived in St. Nicholas, Wales.  It was a Halloween party at their village hall.  1997.  I was told that they dressed up based on what they saw on tv from the US.  I hadn't seen these type of costumes since the early 60's.

New Cards

I bought two sheets of scrapbook paper with the circle flowers and designs on them.  I bought the co-ordinating pattern papers to match.  I die-cut the flower shape from the accent essentials circut cartridge.  The patterned flowers i just matted in orange or blue.

Banana Zucchini Bread

My mom brought me some yellow zucchini (summer squash) and i needed to use it and the ripe bananas, so i made some bread today.  I changed the recipe, i didn't use nutmeg or ground cloves and substituted 1 t. allspice instead.  I made it into one loaf and cooked it longer.
 ZUCCHINI-BANANA BREAD

3 lg. eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
1 1/2 c. shredded zucchini
1/2 c. mashed banana
3 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. chopped nuts or raisins

Mix eggs, oil, sugar, zucchini, banana and vanilla together. Combine next 6 ingredients and add to zucchini batter. Fold in nuts or raisins. Pour into well greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour. Makes 2 loaves.

3 Little Pigs quilt

This is a 1930 Three Little Quilt Pattern that my Grandma had from the newspaper.  My mom had made this quilt but threw it away because it had holes in it.  I tried to duplicate it from my childhood memory.  My mom's quilt was green, but i made this one blue.  I started this quilt overseas in Wales and didn't have the resources we have in the US to applique the pieces so i went to their charity shops and bought some shirts to use for my applique.  i didn't finish it overseas so i purchased other fabric to complete the applique in the US.  It was quilted in Indianapolis at Quilts Plus.  I changed the original quilt by adding sashing to the blocks which has made it bigger than the original crib size in the pattern.  It is hanging in the room that my grandsons use to take a nap in.

Halloween card

I used watercolor paper and colored pencils to create the sky background.  Stamped the witch image w/stazon ink.

I stitched around the outside edges to hold down the "curled up" edges of the watercolor paper.  Added the paper corners and changed my thread so the stitching wouldn't show through on the back.

Stamped the pumpkin image onto acrylic and colored that in with the new bic mark-it markers.

I made my own envelope and stamped the images with stazon ink.  I liked the stitching so well on the card that i added it to my envelope and taped the back of the stitching down.

here was my inspiration- tutorial #116:

I actually saw this card in another location on the internet and didn't find the instructions until after i made my card.

Grandma & Me Halloween Card

I made this card with my grandsons.  They helped by coloring the pumpkin and the grass.  It is a 6 x 6" card and can be used in a scrapbook album.  Below is the step-by-step instructions.  Thanks for looking.

Stamp a pumpkin

Grandma stamped a pumpkin for the boys to color.

Coloring pumpkins for card

I taped down the stamped pumpkin for the boys to color.  It doesn't matter if they scribble because in the next step we cut out the pumpkin.

Cutting out the boys colored pumpkins

After the boys colored their pumpkins, i cut them out so that i could mat them.

Matting the colored/stamped pumpkins

I decided that the pumpkins needed a bit more color.  After cutting them out i adhered them to some orange paper and cut them out again.

Boys coloring their grass for the card

Both boys were given a piece of white cardstock with masking tape to keep it in place.

Cutting "Grass" into strips

After the boys colored their pieces of paper i cut them into strips and then into small sections.  See the next photo below.

Green grass

I cut green cardstock into strips using a zigzag decorative scissor.  *Tip - I cut strips on both sides with the decorative scissors and then cut down the middle with the paper cutter.  Make sure you make the strips wide enough to cut down the middle.
I then adhered the "grass" colored by the boys onto the green zigzag strips.
