My Besties Making Faces Grandmother's Day or Birthday card for Grandma!

Sheri Baldy just recently designed this awesome My Besties Making Faces image #324 found here and i knew i wanted to make a card instantly with this image..i just needed to take time away from my other DT commitments to do this card...

I knew i wanted to play along with some other challenges before i made this card, so that was my starting point..to find a sketch that would work with the image and then some theme challenges to go with it.. and this is what i came up with base on that criteria:
I have also used a sentiment from Raisin Boat Stamp called Grandma's Kitchen and a couple dies.  The card base and first layer and the sentiment die are from Marianne Designs.  The die behind the image is a Tattered Lace circle.

I have also used some lavender tulle on her hat for her veil. This is how i do it..i make a slit with my art craft knife and slip a gathered piece of tulle in the slit and tape it on the back to stay secure.

My Besties "Making Faces" Garden Girl with a Fancy Fold card

I am always inspired by what i see.  What's that game?  Pictionary?   Or remember when someone would draw a squiggly line and you had to make something with it?  That's how i feel about making cards and using images.  I see more than just an image, i "see" what i can do with it besides coloring it and placing it on a card..it challenges me to do something different every time.

So what was my "squiggle" line.. well, the image and a fancy fold card and figuring out "how" i wanted to put the two together.

If you have been following me, you might know i fussy cut most of my images.  Well, this image with the curly lines was a bit harder and challenging for me to cut out..some times i just cut the little curly bits off, however, this one needed the strawberry vines..i think..so i intricately cut them out and added more color so i had a bit more room to cut too. :)

So here is my card using My Besties "Making Faces" Garden Girl, the card is open:
Here is what it looks like closed and close-up:

Several dies were used on this card:
Tan flowers (background), Memory Box
off white flowers are Memory Box

The dies on this card are:

I think this is a first for me..i wanted to make a pretty brown tone image for a long time, but wasn't sure i could give the color justice..i think i have this time?   I did a lot of research trying to find some Copic color combinations and alas...i didn't have one..i was missing the E13.  Wait until you see my combination below.  :)

I decided i also wanted to go bold with my card colors..and for me this is bold.

Here is my card and using a new Sherri Baldy Making Faces image:
So i am also using a brand new die..the blue flowers are a border die from PoppyStamps called Mod Flower Power..cool isn't it?  Other dies are, my go to fern leaf from Joy Crafts, my leaf punch from Martha Stewart (I was too lazy to die cut more fern leaves) and then the frame is two dies put together from Lifestyle crafts..a square and the wavy type die.

My Besties Happy Birthday to You or Just for you!

I am on a roll with making some fun My Besties "Making Faces" images...this image is 302 and so adorable i think.  She looks like she is reaching out and giving the recipient a cupcake!

As always i look for a sketch on Paper Playful and i found this one by "Try Stampin on Tuesday".  The sketch is really a fun one to try!

So here is my card, oh and i forgot to say, i made the flower in her hair 3D and the butterfly on the cupcake 2D.

I finally used my cupcake border from EK success..i might have used it on a scrapbook page eons ago..but i believe this is a first for a card.  The intricut frame is from Memory Box and the oval scallop frame is from Lifestyle Crafts.  Sweet pearl circles cut into quarters/thirds are from Prima.  I also enlarged the butterfly on the cupcake to put in her hair and on the card.  The cupcake/arm is also foam taped to look like it's coming out of the frame.

Here is a side view to see the dimension:

My Besties and Your Next Stamp slider card tutorial

I have put 2 cards up on my blog using Your Next Stamp's Peek a Boo Door die that i've have turned into a "Slider Card'

The Slider card technique has been around on the internet for awhile, it's not new..however to use this die making the card is new..at least it was to me.  Some people think it is an Easel card because of the picture..but it is what i call a "horizontal slider card".

I have made a visual tutorial and have given a link to what inspired me to use the YNS Peek a Boo door die.  You can find that blog post here if you want to watch the video that inspired me.  It however, gives the cutting measurements..and with this die you don't need them.

Today, i realized that i could just use the "door" from this die set and make any shape work for a slider card.

First i will show you some pictures and then i will share the link for the You Tube video that i made using the YNS die and featuring the lovely My Besties image called Princess Twinkle Toes from Sherri Baldy found here.

Here is what the card looks like from the side so you can see the "construction":

My Besties Big Head Freckle Girl w/bow

I know i am crazy..i am really liking this technique of enlarging digi images and cropping them...  I can't do that to all images, they have to be just right to make it work.

I thought i would take this image to another level and paper pieced the bow and raised it like 3D decoupage.

So here is my card using Image 221:
I rotated her in Photoshop and then cropped her.  I also shaded the paper pieced bow w/copics.
